Help us raise $50,000 this year at ROC RACE 2013! Be a part of something bigger to change the lives of our injured military through CAF's Operation Rebound Program that funds adaptive sports equipment, running prosthetics, coaching, mentoring and competition expenses to help physically challenged athletes, like Lance Weir and Chris Self (pictured on a recumbent handcycle), become whole through sports!

CAF Chris and Lance

Sergeant Major Chris Self is a 22 year U.S. Army veteran. While serving in Iraq, Chris sustained gunshot wounds to both legs during a combat operation; one bullet severing the sciatic nerve in his right leg leaving it paralyzed, requiring it to be amputated below the knee. With the help of CAF's Operation Rebound program and his own fortitude, Chris regained the active lifestyle he valued prior to his injury. He has cycled CAF's 620-mile ride down the California coast for several years including one year on a tandem bike with a fellow injured soldier. Chris just completed his first Ironman in Arizona this year and continues to lead by example, highlighting what he and other injured troops are capable of when given the opportunity.

Marine Corps Reservist Lance Weir was cooling off with his friends in a river when in a moment of whimsy, dove from a canoe to grab a floating Razorbacks baseball cap and that seemingly harmless decision turned dire when his head hit a submerged rock, shattering his C5 vertebrae becoming a quadriplegic.  Through the help of CAF, Lance made the Marine Corps Warrior Games team in air rifle where he earned a gold and silver medal with now dreams of a spot on the U.S. Paralympic Air Rifle team. He has also started cycling with a captain on an adaptive tandem hand cycle and also rode on CAF's 620-mile ride this year.

By raising just $250 you can make a difference and be a part of a live grant presentation by Bill Walton on stage day of race!

More Info on CAF Operation Rebound

Many CAF Operation Rebound athletes are active duty and military retirees, police officers and firefighters. They were in top physical shape upon entering their service and often times, in an instant, faced the life-altering challenge of traumatic limb loss, a spinal cord injury or blindness. The resilience of these men and women motivates them to face their injury as a challenge to overcome instead of a life-limiting disability.

Thank You For Making a Difference!
